The Pope Received A Dubious Gift From Lukashenko

It is made by the artisans of a monastery supporting the war.

Chairman of the "tent" Igor Sergeenko met with Pope Lion XIV during his enthronement (assumption of office) at the Vatican and gave the new head of the Catholic Church a gift from Alexander Lukashenko.

Sergeenko invited the Pope to visit Belarus and handed him a gift from Lukashenko - the image of the Mother of God "Zhirovichskaya". It is reported that the icon was made by the masters of Minsk St. Elizabeth Monastery in the technique of hand embossing, silvering and gilding. The original is located in the Holy Dormition Monastery in Zhirovichy.

It is noteworthy that just on this day representatives of Minsk St. Elizabeth Monastery were chased from the church in Rome. Moreover, it was precisely for the lack of the very "peacefulness", about which Sergeenko spoke.

We recall that the St. Elizabeth Monastery and its clergyman Archpriest Andrei Lemeshonok are known for their public support of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. The monastery has repeatedly organized events in support of Russian aggression. Last April, the monastery received a commendation from the Russian military for its activities and "as much help as possible."
