The Kremlin has until tonight.
French President Emmanuel Macron said he would hold further talks with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and European leaders, as the US and EU offer to Russia for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire is only valid until Monday evening.
"I will be talking to Vladimir Zelensky and my European colleagues this afternoon. The framework has been provided. Everything is clear," he told reporters on Monday, May 12, as quoted by Le Figaro.
He also emphasized that it was important to remain prudent.
"Now we all have to be prudent. Either Russia is serious and wants peace, or it is not serious and we have to impose more sanctions," Macron added.
Earlier on May 12, German government speaker Stephan Cornelius announced that Russia would face sanctions if it did not agree to a ceasefire by the end of the day.
