The Russian occupiers have turned Volchansk in the north of Kharkiv region into ruins, not a single surviving building remains in the city, for which fighting continues.
This is evidenced by photos released by the 57th Independent Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Koshevoy Ataman Kostya Gordienko (57 OMBR).
"It was a blooming city. Now it is a wound on the map of Ukraine. These photos are not just a contrast. This is a cry, this is a reproach, this is the truth about the 'Russian world' that brought death, destruction and pain," the soldiers commented on the pictures of Volchansk, showing the city before and after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The AFU noted that today Volchansk is "extinct, broken, but unconquered."
"We will not forget. We will not forgive. And we will rebuild," the 57th OMBr stressed.

Russian invaders occupied Volchansk on the first day of their full-scale invasion of Ukraine, on the morning of February 24, 2022. In the fall of the same year, the AFU liberated the city. Volchansk was again in the combat zone in May 2024.
According to Ukrainian defenders, the enemy is now conducting daily assaults, and the situation in the Volchansk direction remains difficult.
