Sudden Turn: Erdogan Has Put Forward A Condition To Putin

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Putin the main condition for negotiations with Ukraine. If it is fulfilled, he is ready to hold them in Turkey.

"President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a telephone conversation with the head of the Kremlin Vladimir Putin," the report reads.

Erdogan agreed to talks in Turkey

In the meeting, Erdogan reportedly told Putin that his statement that peace talks between Russia and Ukraine would continue in Istanbul from where they left off was welcome and that Turkey was ready to hold talks that would lead to a final solution.

What Erdogan said about the ceasefire

At the same time, Erdogan said that "a window of opportunity for peace has opened" and a comprehensive ceasefire would create the necessary environment for peace talks.

Russia's statement on Putin and Erdogan's conversation does not mention a ceasefire

Russia also published a final document after the conversation between Erdogan and Putin. But it does not contain a word about the Turkish president's calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
