Ukraine is ready to meet, but there is a condition.
Ukraine is ready to meet for talks with Russia. But before that, Moscow must confirm a ceasefire from May 12.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Telegram.
The Ukrainian head of state called it a "good sign" that the Russians are thinking about ending the war. He noted that the very first step in really ending any war is a ceasefire.
Zelensky responded to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's offer of direct talks in Istanbul. The Ukrainian president said Ukraine was ready for the meetings, but before that a ceasefire was needed.
"There is no point in continuing the killings even for a day. We expect Russia to confirm the ceasefire - a complete, long-lasting and reliable ceasefire - starting tomorrow, May 12, and Ukraine is ready to meet," Zelensky emphasized.
