Operators of the Unmanned Operations Forces struck three times in 12 hours at Russian Buk-M2 air defense systems in the Kursk region, the command reported on Monday morning, April 7.
Thus, operators of the 413th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion “RAID” of the Unmanned Operations Forces, in cooperation with the combined detachment of the BPS “Dzhmil” of the 78th separate airborne assault brigade, within 12 hours detected and destroyed three enemy Buk SAM systems.
In particular, the pilots carried out precise strikes with FPV drones on a Buk-M2 launcher-loader camouflaged in a forest belt, which led to the detonation of the missiles and its destruction.
The battalion operators also destroyed two Buk-M3 SAM launchers, damaging their radars.
The Unmanned Operations Forces noted that the radar is a key element of the missile system, designed to “illuminate” air targets and guide missiles. Its destruction significantly undermines the combat capabilities of the system.
“The enemy is still trying to understand how this is possible... But we have already done the impossible. This is not just a success — it is a sign: the enemy's air defense will not save them,” the 413th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion “RAID” noted in turn.
The Buk-M3 is a modern Russian mobile anti-aircraft missile system, one of the key elements of the enemy's air defense. It is capable of destroying air targets at altitudes of up to 35 km and tracking them at a distance of up to 70 km. The cost of the complete system is about $45 million.
