Manufacturers of two other components have yet to be identified.
The Russian Federation has almost completely eliminated American components from its weaponry. For the first time, a component of Indian origin has been discovered.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR).
Ukrainian intelligence has uncovered nearly 200 new parts and components used in six types of Russian weapons. Among them are the CRP antenna of the Russian Shahed drone, the North Korean KN-24 ballistic missile, the computer from the Kh-47 Kinzhal missile, as well as the Supercam S350, Gerbera, and Zala drones.
According to HUR, the new CRP antennas for the Geran-2 drone contained only two chips of American origin. This indicates Russia’s attempt to reduce dependence on components from countries that have imposed sanctions against it.
Previously, new jam-resistant antennas with Chinese-language markings were found in Russian Shahed drones. In one of these antennas, only two out of 15 components were manufactured by American companies Texas Instruments and Linear Technologies.
Meanwhile, transceivers, generators, signal converters, and other microchips were of Chinese origin. The main CRP antenna chip, responsible for analyzing input signals and filtering them, was manufactured by Beijing Microelectronics Technology Institute.
"For the first time, a component of Indian origin was found in Russian weaponry – a clock buffer from Aura Semiconductor," intelligence officials reported.
It is worth noting that the manufacturers of two other components have not yet been identified, but they are likely of Chinese origin as well.
Russia Increases Shahed Production
The Russian Shahed drone factory in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone (Tatarstan) doubled its production of UAVs between January and September 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. At the same time, reports emerged that serial numbers on the bodies of downed Shahed drones had reached 12,000.
As Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated, the drones Russia used to attack Ukraine on January 5, 2024, contained 8,755 foreign-made components.
However, analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believe that Russia’s production rate of Shahed strike drones may decrease, as it shifts focus to decoy drones designed to bypass and overload Ukraine’s air defense systems.
