One Of The Banks Demanded That Belarusians Report Trips Abroad

Otherwise, their cards may be blocked.

Alfa-Bank asked its clients to report trips abroad. This was explained by additional protection against blocking the card if “suspicious transactions” are recorded on it.

Clients noticed a notification with such a warning in the Alfa Bank application. Clients were asked to inform the bank about trips abroad so that there would be no blocking “due to suspicious transactions”.

The bank explained that this is additional protection against blocking if unusual write-offs begin on the card.

Experts explained that this is due to possible cases of fraud - a considerable part of them are committed from abroad or on the Internet. Therefore, most cases of blocking cards are associated with transactions conducted abroad.

- If unusual write-offs begin to occur on cards, transactions may be suspended pending investigation. In this case, the bank promptly contacts the client and clarifies whether he conducted the transactions in order to exclude fraud.

If clients are leaving the country (for example, on vacation), Alfa Bank recommends notifying the bank about this.

- In this case, we record information about the country of stay and dates of stay, which allows us to qualify transactions as accurately as possible and not disturb the person on vacation.

If it happens that the card is blocked, the bank advises contacting the contact center via chat in the INSNC mobile application or chat bot in Telegram - specialists will help sort out the situation.
