Moscow is stalling on ceasefire agreements.
U.S. President Donald Trump has, for the first time, stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may be stalling on reaching agreements for a ceasefire with Ukraine.
Politico reported.
When asked by a reporter from the American cable news network Newsmax whether he believes Moscow is delaying ceasefire negotiations, Trump acknowledged such a possibility.
According to the U.S. president, he believes that "Russia wants to put an end" to its large-scale military aggression against Ukraine.
"But maybe they are stalling," Trump admitted, adding that he had used a similar tactic in his past business dealings to buy time.
"I've done this for years... You know, I don’t want to sign a contract, I kind of want to stay in the game, but maybe I don’t want to do it at all, I'm not sure," he explained regarding this approach.
At the same time, Trump reiterated his belief that both Ukraine and Russia want to end the war.
"But no, I think Russia would like this to be over, and I think Zelensky would like this to be over at this point," the American leader stated.
He also repeated his estimate of the losses suffered by both sides, citing an average of 2,500 soldiers per week. He emphasized that he "just wants this to stop”.
