Russia-US Talks in Riyadh Fail

Moscow claims the failure was due to Ukraine’s position.

A joint statement following the US-Russia talks in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) was not issued.

This was reported on Tuesday, March 25, by Vladimir Chizhov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council's Committee on Defense and Security, in an interview with the Russia 24 propaganda channel.

The Russian diplomat claimed that the failure was allegedly due to Ukraine's stance.

"They sat for 12 hours and seemingly agreed on a joint statement, but it was not adopted because of Ukraine's position," Chizhov said, adding that "this is also quite characteristic and symptomatic."

On March 25, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the contents of the talks in Riyadh would not be made public, as they were allegedly "technical consultations”.
