Ukraine Returns 197 Defenders From Russian Captivity

The exchange took place via Belarus.

Ukraine and Russia each transferred 175 prisoners of war. In addition, 22 seriously wounded servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces returned to Kyiv.

The day before, after a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, Putin promised that 23 wounded Ukrainian soldiers would be sent to Ukraine as part of a “goodwill gesture” from Moscow.

The Russian Defense Ministry clarified that Russian servicemen are in Belarus. They also noted the participation of the UAE in organizing the exchange.
