Media: RF Demanding Kellogg's Suspension From Negotiations
KEITH KELLOGG

Putin considers him ‘too close to Ukraine’.

Keith Kellogg, the US president's special representative on the Russia-Ukraine war, has been excluded from high-level talks after the Kremlin said it did not want him to participate.

Two sources - in the US presidential administration and in Russia - informed NBC News about this.

According to a Russian official who spoke to NBC News, Vladimir Putin considers Kellogg ‘too close to Ukraine.’

‘Not our type of person, not of the calibre we are looking for,’ he added.

A Trump administration official confirmed to NBC News on condition of anonymity that Russia did not want to involve Kellogg in the talks.

The role of the US president's special envoy in further talks on ending Russia's war against Ukraine is still unclear, the channel states.

US National Security Council spokesman James Hewitt told NBC News that Kellogg remains ‘a valuable part of the team, particularly as it relates to negotiations with our European allies.’

That said, Kellogg is known to be absent during meetings in Saudi Arabia in February and March, when the U.S. spoke with representatives of Russia and Ukraine - even though such talks fall under his purview.

Politico also reported the day before that Trump's special envoy could have been removed from the talks on settling the war, although administration officials officially say this is not the case.
