Military expert Oleh Zhdanov commented on an event that was little covered by the world press. Zhdanov happily reported that the Kaliningrad region, where electricity was supplied via transit through the Baltic countries, will now suffer from power outages.
The Kremlin does not have many options for solving the problem, one of which is to buy electricity from European countries.
Oleh Zhdanov spoke about this on his YouTube channel.
Regarding the fact that the Baltic countries, like Ukraine, are now in a single energy system with the European Union, Oleg Zhdanov said the following: "There is one nuance here. A nuance that is rarely discussed in the European press, but I think that in the Russian Federation this will simply cause hysteria. The fact is that with the disconnection of the Baltic countries from the Russian energy system, Kaliningrad and the region are moving into an enclave mode, now the Russian Federation has to buy electricity from Europe for Kaliningrad, because its own production is not enough."
"There is no more transit through the Baltic countries, so they themselves will have to lay an energy cable along the bottom of the Baltic or they will have to transport fuel for thermal power plants and stoke there all night, but still, according to energy experts, there is not enough local generation in Kaliningrad even for the needs of the population, so they will probably have to buy from Europe. If Europe refuses, then they will have to pull a cable, bring generators or whatever else they have," Oleh Zhdanov said.
