In response to the actions of the regime.
The UK Revenue and Customs announced the suspension of the agreement on the avoidance of double taxation with Belarus.
It is noted that the Belarusian side has been informed of this decision.
It is specified that from April 1, 2025, the provision concerning corporate income taxes and other taxes will cease to apply, and from April 6 — income tax and capital gains tax.
It is emphasized that the decision was made in response to the actions of Belarus.
On March 7, 2024, the Council of Ministers of Belarus adopted Resolution #164 “On Taxation Issues”, which, among other things, suspended until the end of 2026 “the implementation of the provisions of international agreements on the avoidance of double taxation” in relation to 27 Western countries, including Great Britain (the corresponding clause entered into force in June).
The document temporarily terminated Article 10 of the agreement — on dividends, Article 11 — on interest, and also Article 13 — on income from the alienation of property.
