A criminal case on a terrorist act has been opened against Yury Petrash.
A court in St. Petersburg has arrested local resident Yury Petrash in a criminal case on a terrorist attack. He is suspected of setting the FSB building door on fire. This is reported by the press service of the city courts.
According to the investigation, on 7 February 2025 Petrash poured a flammable liquid on the door of the FSB building in Shpalernaya Street and set it on fire. The door was damaged and Petrash ran away. He was later detained.
Petrash was sent to the pre-trial detention centre until 6 April. According to 78.ru, Petrash is 22 years old, a first-year master's student at the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design. He faces up to 20 years in prison under the article on the terrorist attack.
According to Fontanka, the fraudsters had stolen the student's money and then, disguised as special services officers, promised to return the money if he checked the vigilance of their ‘FSB colleagues’. They asked him to throw a Molotov cocktail into the department's building.
