Russian Federation Intends To Produce Drones For Strikes On Ukraine In India

Russian authorities are beginning to rely increasingly on India to make up for labor shortages and to win support for drone production for strikes on Ukraine.
This is according to a fresh report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Russian statements on cooperation with India
Analysts drew attention to the fact that Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov said a couple of days ago that Russia was in talks with India to localize the production of Russian Lancet drones in India.
The ISW analysts also recalled that during his visit to India, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin said that Russia was transferring technologies for shipbuilding, missile and aviation industries to the Indians.
Experts believe that such statements by Putin and Chemezov suggest that Moscow may consider setting up joint production of drones.
"The Russian Federation probably plans to use these drones in the war against Ukraine - possibly in exchange for transferring new Russian technologies and combat experience to India," the report said.
The issue of migrant workers
The Institute also recalled that on December 5, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov said the country could accept an "unlimited number" of migrant workers from India.
At the same time, he said it would take Russia more than a year to create the conditions necessary to accept, employ and document Indian migrants.
India-Russia Cooperation
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, welcomed the expansion of energy ties between the countries. The move came despite duties imposed on the country by the US over its purchase of Russian oil.
India is one of the largest buyers of energy from Russia, although US President Donald Trump has repeatedly urged Modi to stop buying Russian oil.
