"Then Putin Will Realize He Lost The War."

"Then Putin Will Realize He Lost The War."

A U.S. general voiced the scenario.

Western media say that Putin has decided to continue his war of attrition, capturing minor territories but with no way to achieve a strategic victory. As long as the Kremlin leader thinks that the West will retreat or will not be strong enough to resist him, there is zero chance that he will agree to end the war.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with "Channel 24" by retired U.S. Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, explaining that the Russian dictator has no incentive to end the war, but he could have one under certain conditions.

How would the U.S. and Europe have to act?

The incentive to come to the negotiating table would come to Putin under the condition that the U.S. said it was going to help Ukraine and give it everything it needed and actually use its leverage. Or, as Hodges noted, if Britain, Germany, France, Poland, Finland, and other European countries said it was in their interest to stop Russia and gave Ukraine economic aid, used frozen Russian assets, and pursued a tough sanctions policy against the aggressor country.

"Only then would Putin begin to consider that he might not win. Besides, what Ukraine is doing with Russian oil and gas is also an important part of the pressure. If that continues, then I predict it will be very difficult for Russia to wage war next year," Hodges voiced.

According to the retired U.S. lieutenant general, economically Russia cannot sustain this war forever. Hodges said that if the United States reasoned strategically, it would find a way to supply oil and gas to China, India from other sources to replace what those countries get from Russia.

This is its lifeline. What keeps Russia afloat is the purchase of her oil and gas by China and India. So eliminating that through military action and economic measures would be the best way to increase pressure on Vladimir Putin,

- Hodges is convinced.
