Russians Dropped An Airplane Bomb And Caused A Blackout In Belgorod

The explosion left a noticeable crater.

On the evening of December 6, there was an explosion near the power substation on Storozhevaya Street in the Eastern District of Belgorod, after which part of the regional center, as well as the suburbs were left without electricity. According to "Ashes", there was an abnormal drop of an aerial bomb from a Russian combat aircraft.

Astra estimates that this is already at least 133 aerial bombs that Russian fighter jets have dropped on Russian-controlled border territory since the beginning of the year.

The Ashes notes that no missile danger alarm went off before the explosion in Belgorod and there were no drone warnings, proving the Russian shell dropped. According to residents of houses in the area where the bomb fell, before the incident they heard the rumble of a flying airplane moving towards the border. The explosion left a noticeable crater near the substation on Storozhevaya. The impact site was cordoned off, emergency services are working on the spot. The Belgorod governor confirmed the power outage and said that the cause of the emergency was "the arrival of an unidentified munition." According to him, one person was injured in the explosion.

"There are still problems with electricity supply in parts of Belgorod and Belgorod district. A man injured in Belgorod is being taken by an ambulance brigade to Belgorod City Hospital No. 2 for examination with a preliminary diagnosis of barotrauma," the head of the region wrote in his Telegram channel. In addition, a truck was damaged, and windows in two private houses were blown out.

Belgorod itself was without power supply in a number of districts for some time. Local publicks reported interruptions including in the city center. Traffic lights were partially disabled there.

Since the beginning of the year, Russian planes have already dropped at least 133 aerial bombs (FABs and UMPBs) and three missiles in the border zone of Russia and the occupied part of Ukraine, Astra calculated. Last year, at least 165 FABs fell on these territories.
