The AFU Hit A GBU-62 Aerial Bomb On The Occupants' Control Center In Volchansk

The strike was corrected with a recon drone.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a drone control point and a communications hub of Russian invaders in Volchansk, Kharkiv Region. The video of the attack was published in the Telegram channel "Sonyashnik".

The Ukrainian publication "Militarny" says that a GBU-62 aerial bomb with a JDAM-ER kit was used to hit the target. In Ukraine, they were integrated on MiG-29 fighters.

"The GBU-62 is a 500-pound (approximately 226 kg, - ed.) munition based on the familiar Mk-82 aerial bomb, to which they added a JDAM kit with GPS/INS and an ER glider module to increase range," the authors explain.

It is noted that thanks to the ER module, the munition's wings unfold after separation from the aircraft. Therefore, it does not fall on a steep trajectory, but plans, which allows it to overcome tens of kilometers.

"This scheme allows to strike from a safe distance, when the target's defense is dense or when the carrier aircraft cannot get too close," the resource writes.

The strike was corrected with the help of a reconnaissance drone.
