How Many Hectares Of Forest Are There Per One Belarusian

A ranking of "forest powers" has emerged.

Although Belarus is not among the largest forest powers, the country is firmly at the top of the world list in terms of forests per capita, writes thinktanks.

Belarus ranks 40th in the world in terms of forest area per capita. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, there is about 1 hectare of forest for each inhabitant of the country. This is twice as much as the world average (0.5 hectares) and noticeably more than most European countries. Our country has about 0.22% of the world's forests, which is 8.975 million hectares.

The neighboring countries are distributed in the rating as follows:

Russia - 6th place (5. 7 hectares)

Russia - 5.7 hectares)

Latvia - 26th place (1.9 hectares)

Lithuania - 48th place (0.8 hectares)

Ukraine - 89th place (0.3 hectares)

Poland - 96th place (0.3 hectares).
