Putin's favorite journalist mocked Lukashenko.
Kommersant's special correspondent Andrey Kolesnikov, who has been called Putin's favorite journalist and chronicler, laughed at Lukashenko's behavior at the EAEU summit in St. Petersburg on December 21:
- Personally, I was grateful to Alexander Lukashenko, too. Just a few words - and it turned out that there is no such special EAEU, and maybe there was none. And it was a surprise.
- Let's make an agreement," he suggested, "I believe we can act as in the old days, everyone will speak on the agenda, in general, on all issues, and then we will decide whether we will speak at the enlarged session.
- Perhaps Lukashenko, as the presiding officer, wanted to offer a closed format of the discussion in this way, because the protocol for the narrow session was to broadcast only his speech and Putin's. But at the enlarged meeting - all without exception. And his colleagues would hardly be frank there.
And Lukashenko's colleagues did not support it. They approved the classical agenda. And at the enlarged session the ruler of Belarus was no longer the same. They rolled the sivka in the presidential library.
- We have stated, - Putin said, - that participation in the work of the EurAsEC brings serious dividends, including those related to the accelerated growth of industrial production, the economy as a whole, expands opportunities for citizens to communicate with each other.... In general, the effect is quite positive!
And if it is positive, as big brother says, it is positive.
- Our union has taken place! - exclaimed Lukashenko. - A solid foundation has been formed to unite the countries that have the same goals and a common understanding of the process of achieving them! Once again I would like to thank President Vladimir Vladimirovich of Russia for inviting us and creating conditions for productive work, and this is traditional!
I am glad to welcome in this hall our friends, representatives of state observers to EurAsEC, as well as a high-level delegation from Indonesia (represented by a government minister). The growing interest of the global majority in partnership relations with our union speaks of the relevance of the Eurasian integration model!
It emphasizes the role of our integration association as a pole of economic attraction, despite all the shortcomings that we talked about in the narrow composition.... Summarizing the results of the implementation of strategic directions of economic integration, we can say with confidence that in the conditions of enormous external pressure on our countries, the Union has not only preserved, but also increased its significance for strengthening the economic potential of the member states!...
The voice of the Eurasian Economic Union is sounding more and more confidently on international platforms from Geneva to New York!
