Russian generals and intelligence services are embellishing reports on the situation on the frontline for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. He believes Russia is supposedly capable of defeating Ukraine.
This is reported by Financial Times.
Western officials told the publication that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, influenced by fake information reaching the Kremlin, is refusing to accept favorable terms for ending the war offered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Two unnamed officials said Russian military and intelligence services regularly provide Putin with reports that overstate Ukraine's casualties, emphasize Russia's resource advantages and downplay tactical failures.
They said such an optimistic picture painted to the dictator in military briefings makes him believe he can win the war. Putin's blind faith does not change, even though he "meets regularly with confidants who explain to him how the war is becoming an increasing burden on Moscow's stalled economy."
