Why Was Lukashenko Hiding In Oman?

The press office's excuses sound bizarre.

After several days of absence from public space, Alexander Lukashenko "found himself" in Oman in the company of his sons Viktor and Nikolai. And held talks with Sultan Haisam bin Tarek Al Said - at least, that's what the press service of the ruler claims.

If you believe the press service report, the conversation was about the creation of a new pulp and paper mill in Belarus, cooperation in tourism, agriculture and food security.

But is it worth believing the statement?

- It's not the first time Lukashenko is in Oman on a visit," said economic observer Andrei Makhovsky on the air of "Euroradio". - But we still know nothing about the real economic results of these trips.

We haven't heard about any breakthrough projects, no investments from Oman have gone to Belarus. For some reason we do not supply Belarusian tractors in large quantities to Oman.

Lukashenko is not there for the first time - so where are the results? Show them.

What kind of a visit is it if you come and just rest for two days? Otherwise it looks, at least in relation to Oman, like some kind of personal gesheft, big personal interests. For some reason we do not see any benefit to the state from this.

Perhaps there were some closed meetings during these few days, about which nothing can be told or even shown. One thing we know for sure is that these visits have no benefit for the country.
