Lithuania May Move Night Flights From Vilnius Airport To Kaunas Airport

Because of the provocations of the Belarusian regime.

Due to the increasing number of incidents of incoming weather probes, which disrupt the work of Vilnius airport, Lithuania is considering the possibility of night flights from Kaunas. This was stated by the representative of Prime Minister Ignas Dobrovolskas, writes MadeinVilnius.

"We are evaluating the possibility of transferring night flights to other airports in the country, for example, to Kaunas, continue to apply measures against local smuggling networks, and actively use diplomatic channels," Ignas Algirdas Dobrovolskas told BNS agency.

He said that the government is not considering closing the border with Belarus at the moment.

"Our attention is focused on how to really help people and businesses now," the official said.

Reminder, in the evening on Sunday, November 30, Vilnius airport stopped receiving and sending flights - according to preliminary information, due to another invasion of weather probes with contraband from Belarus. The airport resumed operations on December 1 at 5.00.

Director of the company Oro navigacija (Air Navigation) Saulius Batavicius said that about 60 balloons were launched towards Lithuania, about 40 of them were in critical areas for aircraft landing.

The Lithuanian Interior Ministry said that there are no plans to re-close the border with Belarus, but this option is not ruled out.
