Merz Announces Aid To Ukraine In 2026

Kiev will receive more than 11 billion euros from Berlin.

Germany will allocate more than 11 billion euros in aid for Ukraine next year. In addition, the country will help with energy supply to Ukrainian schools, hospitals and kindergartens.

This was announced by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during a press conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

He noted that Ukraine will receive more than 11 billion euros in aid from Germany in 2026. In addition, Merz said that his country will provide power supply to kindergartens, schools and hospitals in Ukraine amid Russia's attempts to barbarically destroy the country's energy system.

The German chancellor said that since February 2022, the country has sent Ukraine 40 billion euros worth of military aid and 36 billion euros worth of civilian support. Berlin has additionally transferred 170 million euros to Kiev to protect its energy infrastructure.

Merz also noted that Germany is working with European partners and the G7 to provide Ukraine with even more financial aid.

He noted that one such step could be a reparation loan from Russia's frozen assets. According to Merz, these funds would help support Ukraine for at least the next two years.
