The Oldest Political Prisoner In Belarus Was Released

The oldest political prisoner in Belarus - 70-year-old pensioner from Belarus Sofia Bachurinskaya - has been released and taken to Ukraine, writes "Mediazona".

Sofia was detained in December 2024 and charged under the articles on insulting Lukashenko and slandering him (Articles 368 and 367 of the Criminal Code), insulting a representative of power (Article 369 of the Criminal Code) and participation in an "extremist formation" (Article 361-1 of the Criminal Code). The court sentenced her to two years in a penal colony, she served her time in the women's penal colony № 4 in Homel.

Before her detention Bachurinskaya had been engaged in network marketing for several years, as well as traveled a lot - she had been to several EU countries, as well as Ukraine.
