ISW: The Kremlin Refuses To Give Up On Peace

Moscow opposes the edits from Ukraine and Europe.

The Kremlin is imposing conditions for rejecting the Ukrainian and European draft peace plan after earlier rejecting key points in a proposed US peace plan that was largely favorable to Russia.

This is according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Aide to Russian dictator Yuri Ushakov claims that Russia has made its position "very clear" and that Russia will have "serious objections" if Ukraine and Europe amend the peace plan.

Ushakov also said that Russia will not accept provisions regarding various "territorial issues," including any discussion of a buffer zone in the Donbass.

Dictator Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitri Peskov admitted that the Kremlin is not interested in revising the European position on the peace deal.

On December 14, the Russian publication Agence, citing Ushakov's words, reported that the Kremlin, ahead of talks between the United States, Ukraine and Europe in Berlin, made it clear that it would not accept any changes to the peace plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine.

Before arriving in Berlin, Vladimir Zelensky, answering journalists' questions, said that a fair and realistic option for a ceasefire could be the principle of "we stand where we stand." That is, the Ukrainian and Russian militaries remain at their positions and all issues are resolved diplomatically.

At the same time, an aide to the Russian dictator, Yuriy Ushakov, claims that the Kremlin will not accept any changes to the peace plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
