Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is willing to "meet as soon as possible" with US President Donald Trump amid friction with China. She made the announcement in parliament.
"I can and will go to Washington, <...> and when President Trump goes overseas, I would like to meet as soon as possible," the Japanese prime minister said in response to a proposal to meet the US president before his visit to China.
According to Bloomberg, Japan is erecting missile batteries, radars and ammunition depots on islands in the Ryukyu archipelago because of China's threat to use force against Taiwan.
Last month, Takaichi said the country would deploy self-defense forces if China tried to gain control of Taiwan.
