Putin Allows Chinese To Enter Russia Without Visas

Chinese citizens will be able to stay in the Russian Federation without a visa for up to 30 days.

Putin signed a decree on the introduction of visa-free entry into Russia for Chinese citizens. According to the document, which is published on the portal of legal information, Chinese citizens can enter Russia and transit through Russia "on the basis of an ordinary passport of a Chinese citizen" from December 1, writes The Moscow Times.

Chinese citizens will be able to stay in Russia without a visa for up to 30 days if they come "with a guest or business visit, as tourists, to participate in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, sporting events," the decree says.

The visa-free regime, according to the document, is introduced until September 14, 2026, "taking into account the principle of reciprocity." At the same time, Chinese citizens will still need a visa to enter the country for work purposes, including for journalists, as well as for residence in the Russian Federation and accompanying road transportation.

China introduced visa-free regime for Russians from September 14. It applies to travel for tourism, business, sightseeing and private purposes, as well as exchange programs. Previously, entry without a visa was possible only for Russian tourists in organized groups. The new rules will be valid until September 14, 2026, after which the authorities will decide whether to extend or terminate the regime.
