Media: Tanker Off The Coast Of Senegal Hit By Ukrainian Drones

He was "punished" for transporting Russian oil.

Turkish media reports that the oil tanker MERSIN (IMO: 9428683), owned by the Panama-flagged shipping company Beşiktaş Denizcilik, is in distress off the coast of Senegal.

According to Istanbul Haber, the tanker is sinking. A video published by Turkish media shows water almost reaching the deck, but there are no visible signs of attack on the hull. The tanker transmitted its last AIS data on November 24 from the waters off Senegal just south of Dakar.

The publication claims that the tanker "was hit by Ukrainian drones off the coast of Senegal" for "carrying Russian oil." At the same time, the media does not give any arguments in favor of this version.

At the same time, as The Insider found out, the tanker does indeed frequently call at Russian ports. In particular, this year alone, it has visited them at least 13 times: in February it called at the port of Ust-Luga, in May, June, July - several times in the port of Novorossiysk, in June - in Tuapse, in August - in the port of Taman. The vessel is not on the sanctions lists.
