More than 200 trucks have entered through the customs point Miadininkai, located on the border of Lithuania and Belarus, over the past day. This was reported by vice-president of the Lithuanian Trucking Association "Linava" Olegas Tarasovas on the air of radio LRT.
"According to the latest data, 218 trucks - almost 2.5 times more than usually pass through the checkpoint "Miadininkai" - have passed through the checkpoint over the last day. A little more than 400 trucks are still left at Benekonis-Shalcininkai," said Tarasovas, noting that traffic is not yet allowed at other checkpoints.
According to him, only for the last week, parking of vehicles in Belarus cost carriers about €5 million.
Lithuania completely closed the border with Belarus for a month on October 29 due to the situation with the penetration of weather probes into the territory of the country, resulting in 5 thousand Lithuanian trucks stuck at the Belarusian checkpoints.
