Part Of The Gomel Region Is No Longer Considered "radiation Hazardous Land"

Contaminated land has been converted to economic use.

A part of the territories of Vetki, Zhlobin and Chechersk districts of Homel region was excluded from the list of radiation-hazardous lands by the decree of the Council of Ministers. The document was officially published on November 25 at the National Legal Internet Portal.

Regulation № 665 of November 22 prescribes that the areas of more than 875 hectares are no longer considered radiation hazardous. They will be transferred to economic use.

The Council of Ministers instructed Vetkovsk, Zhlobin and Chechersk district executive committees to determine the boundaries of the plots within a month and transfer them for further use. The local authorities are also instructed to control the conditions of use of these land plots and control of radioactive contamination of products to be produced on these territories.
