A Police Officer Was Wounded In Berezino

On the evening of November 22 in Berezino, a police detachment, arriving on a call, noticed a man on the street who allegedly matched the description of a wanted man. While checking his documents, the man suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed the policeman several times. After that the man fled into the woods.
The forces of the local police department, the Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk Regional Executive Committee, OMON and special unit "Almaz" rushed to search for him. The Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov went to the scene.
The injured employee was taken to the Republican Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Today around 14:30 the search was completed. The suspect was found in a wooded area.
The Interior Ministry said in announcing the manhunt that he was 47-year-old local resident Vasily Malik.
When arrested, police say, he resisted and went at the policeman with a knife. He was shot.
The man's condition has not been reported. The Interior Ministry says he is receiving medical treatment.
