Chess player from Minsk Denis Lazavik reached the semifinals of the Speed Chess Championship 2025 - a kind of World Cup final in rapid chess, writes smartpress.by.

In the 1/8 finals of the competition the Belarusian defeated the representative of India Arjun Erigaysi more than a month ago - 12:9. In the quarterfinals of the tournament Lazavik had to compete with the American Hans Nimman. The victory also went to the grandmaster from Belarus - 15.5:9.5.

The first two stages were held in online distance format. The semifinals and finals will be held in person on February 7-8 in London.
