The German Chancellor also declared a "deep division in the Atlantic".
The old world order has come to an end. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said this at an economic conference organized by the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
"We do not yet know how it (the world order - ed.) will look in a few years.) will look like in a few years, but we know quite certainly that the order that we in the West have known for the last 80 years and in the East for 35 years, that this world order has now <...> come to its end," the German Cabinet chief said.
Merz added that a "deep split in the Atlantic" has now emerged. What has happened, he said, calls into question "almost everything that was considered right and necessary in transatlantic relations."
