The secretary of the Russian Security Council was allegedly going to be killed at Troekurovskoye cemetery.
The high-ranking official whose assassination attempt was prepared at Moscow's Troekurovskoye cemetery and was prevented is the secretary of Russia's Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, writes Moscow Komsomolets without citing the source of the information.
The FSB reported that an assassination attempt on one of Russia's top officials at Troekurovskoye cemetery was prevented on November 14. According to the agency, the assassination attempt was allegedly prepared at the assignment of Ukraine during his visit to the burial site of close relatives. The name of the official was not named in the FSB report.
The investigation detained several people, including a married couple. From their testimony (the video of the interrogation was distributed by the FSB) it followed that they acted on the instructions of a man named Ruslan, whom they met on the Internet. He asked to take them to a cemetery and leave a vase with flowers at one of the graves. Inside was a camera and, as one of the suspects suggested, an explosive device. The couple was detained when they were returning home.
The father and mother of Sergei Shoigu - Kujuget Sereyevich and Alexandra Yakovlevna - are buried in Troekurovskoye cemetery. The anniversary of the latter's death is November 12. Also buried in this cemetery is the sister of the Secretary of the Security Council Larisa Shoigu, who died in 2021.
