A member of Sardinia's regional council for industry, Emanuele Cani, fell at the Ministry of Enterprises and Products in Rome. In the fall, he damaged a historic 1932 stained glass window by futurist artist Mario Sironi. The incident took place in the Palazzo Piacentini building and was captured by CCTV cameras.
"I was coming out and, going down the stairs, I lost my balance.... The stained glass window was unprotected. I didn't hit my head, but my arm. And half of my body was left hanging outside the building. I almost fell ten meters. It could have ended much worse," Mr. Kani shared in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

The stained glass that the official damaged is called the "Charter of Labor". It is one of the symbols of the Italian Fascist era. The author of the stained glass window is Mario Sironi, one of the leading exponents of Futurism.
"The insults and ridicule on social media hurt me more than the bruises I received when I hit the glass," the official added. The incident left Kani bruised and frightened. Doctors have recommended him a few days of rest and a course of physiotherapy.
