Kiev will need €83.4 billion for military needs.
The European Commission has estimated Ukraine's residual need for financial assistance in 2026-2027 at €135.7 billion, the Reuters news agency reported, citing the EC's letter to EU governments on financing options for Kiev.
From €135.7 billion, Ukraine will need €83.4 billion for military needs and €52.3 billion for other expenditures, according to the letter. At the same time, the EC estimates Kiev's total needs in 2026 at €71.7 billion and in 2027 at €64 billion.
The European Commission has offered EU countries three main options for financing Ukraine, Reuters reports. The first of them assumes support with grants, the second - the provision of a loan financed by EU borrowing on financial markets. The third scenario involves providing Kiev with a loan at the expense of frozen Russian assets.
EU head Ursula von der Leyen said in a letter that a decision on Ukraine's financing should be made at the next EU summit, which is scheduled for December 18-19.
