Several Tax Changes Are Being Prepared For Drivers In Belarus

Belarus intends to introduce several tax changes in 2026, which relate to the transportation tax. "Zerkalo" compiled a selection of such possible innovations.

Rise in fees

Officials intend to increase the rates of transport tax - both for individuals and legal entities.

The amount of transport tax depends on the permitted maximum mass, capacity and is prescribed for one unit of vehicle.

For example, for a car with a permitted maximum mass of up to 1.5 tons now you have to pay 70 rubles a year, and intend to increase to 75 rubles. The increase is by 7.1%. And for cars from 1.5 to 1.75 tons - from 92 to 99 rubles. This is 7.6% more than now.

Extension of the benefit

From electric cars want not to charge transport duty and for 2026. Tax officials previously explained that this tax does not apply to vehicles of category M1 or M1G, driven exclusively by an electric engine.

Remember, this tax was introduced in 2021. From electric cars then decided not to charge it until December 31, 2025. This applies to both individuals and legal entities.

Change for bikes

The increased five-fold transport tax want to introduce for individuals - owners of motorcycles of categories L3, L4, L5 with an engine displacement of 800 cm³ inclusive and more. We are talking about models, from the year of manufacture of which has not passed five years.

The standard rate of this fee intends to raise from 46 to 49 rubles. That is, the increased tax in this case may become at the level of 245 rubles.
