The Winner Of The Nobel Prize For Literature Has Been Announced
Laszlo Krasznahorkai

It was a Hungarian writer.

The Swedish Academy in Stockholm has announced that they have decided to award the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2025 to László Krasznahorkai, a Hungarian writer for "a compelling and visionary work that, in the midst of apocalyptic horror, confirms the power of art."

As bequeathed by the founder of the Nobel Prizes - Swedish scientist, dynamite inventor and entrepreneur Alfred Nobel - the award in literature is worthy of the one who has produced "the most outstanding work in an idealistic direction."

László Krasznahorkai is a Hungarian novelist and screenwriter. He was born in 1954 in Gyula, Hungary. He studied law and Hungarian literature. He made his debut in 1985 with the novel The Satanic Tango. He is the author of the novels "The Melancholy of Resistance", "War and War", "From the north a mountain, from the south a lake, from the west a road, from the east a river", and "The Return of Baron Wenckheim". Based on Krasznahorkai's scripts, the world-famous Hungarian director Bela Tarr made five films, including the cult favorite "Satanic Tango".
