Olga Baryshnikova's book "And Longer So They Sang: Musical Folklore of Old Believers of Pioneer-Western Belarus" has been published. It is devoted to the musical folklore of the Old Believers of Podvinya, reports the telegram channel "De facto.

The book contains 45 authentic songs (you can listen to them in authentic performance), transcripts, ethnomusicological comments in Belarusian, Russian and English. As well as rare recordings of conversations and photos collected or taken during folklore-ethnographic expeditions.

The earliest audio recordings are from 1963, and the oldest singer, whose voice can be heard in the edition, was born in 1890s. The book consists of three sections: "Valachobnya pesni", "Krutuhi, haravodi, pahadushki", and "Lyrychnya pesni".

The author of the book is ethnomusicologist, teacher of traditional singing Olga Baryshnikova, a native of the village of Germanovichi, Sharkovshchinsky district.
