Suspects linked to Russian intelligence services have already been detained.
Russia was preparing a series of sabotage attacks on Polish territory using drones and explosives disguised in tins of corn. This is according to Gazeta Wyborcza, citing data from the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Poland and the Internal Security Agency (ABW), reported Polskie Radio.
The Minister-Coordinator of the Intelligence Services Tomasz Semoniak said on TVP Info that suspects linked to the Russian intelligence services have already been detained. According to him, such sabotage attempts are becoming more frequent:
"This, unfortunately, has become a bad norm. There have been at least more than ten such cases," he said.
According to the publication's sources familiar with the investigation, Russian security services allegedly prepared terrorist attacks using drones that were supposed to drop explosives on as yet unnamed targets. It was hidden in cans of canned corn. The drones were equipped with grips that perfectly matched the shape and size of the cans. Experts have estimated that the contents of one can correspond to 1.4 kilograms of TNT.
Wyborcza describes the story of the Internal Security Agency's detention of Vladislav G., Vladislav G., an alleged Russian intelligence courier who, according to the investigation, was transporting cans of explosives, as well as drone parts and SIM cards between Lithuania, Poland and Germany.
Wladyslaw was instructed by his handlers to dig up cans of explosives in a cemetery and transport them to a cache near the Polish city of Lodz, according to the investigation. The publication notes that exactly the same corn cans filled with explosives were found in a cache in a cemetery in Lithuania. Polish security services fear that a network of such caches could be created throughout Europe.
