The U.S. has been attacking ships carrying Maduro's narco-terrorists in recent weeks.
Helicopters of the U.S. military's elite special operations unit have been operating in the Caribbean Sea near the coast of Venezuela in recent days, writes The Washington Post, after conducting a visual analysis.
The aircraft were spotted less than 90 miles off the Venezuelan coast (about 150 kilometers). The newspaper drew these conclusions from footage of MH-6 Little Bird and MH-60 Black Hawk attack helicopters captured over open water near oil and gas platforms. Analysis of the footage showed that it was taken off the northeastern coast of Trinidad and Tobago, an island nation near Venezuela. In addition, the publication points out, a commercial vessel MV Ocean Trader, converted into a floating base for special forces, was spotted in the area.
The newspaper's source said the helicopters were taking part in an exercise. In early October, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino reported that the country's air defense systems had detected at least five U.S. warplanes near the country's coast, the head of the agency condemned "this military provocation."
The newspaper reported that in recent days the US military has struck at least five boats carrying what it claimed were drugs in international waters, killing at least 27 people.
Another WP interlocutor urged that the flights should not be seen as exercises in preparation for a land invasion of Venezuela.
