Madagascar's President Confirmed To Have Fled The Country

The military took over.

President of Madagascar Andry Rajoelina has officially confirmed his departure from the country. This was reported by Agence France-Presse, citing a communiqué from the African leader.

"Andry Rajoelina has confirmed that he has 'left the country,'" the agency said.

On October 14, Madagascar's lower house of parliament, the National Assembly, voted to remove Rajoelina from power. Following the impeachment of the country's president, the military in Madagascar took over.
