At about 17:00 on August 22, it became known that explosions occurred in the Russian port of Kavkaz in the Russian Federation, after which thick black smoke rose into the sky and a fire broke out. Telegram channels reported about a strike against a ferry with fuel tanks.

"We are informed from Kerch that a Ukrainian rocket blew up a ferry in the Kavkaz port. Judging by the smoke, we can assume that there were fuel tanks on the ferry," the Crimean Wind reported.

Later, the administrators of the Telegram channel reported that there was a strike against the Crono Trader ferry, which was already loaded with railway fuel tanks.

"The ferry with tanks burns not just strongly, but very strongly," the publication says.

Russian media reported that at the time of the attack on the ferry in the port of Kavkaz, there were 5 people on the ship, their fate is unknown. The Conro Trader was carrying fuel and lubricants. A fire train was sent to the Kavkaz port to extinguish the fire.

Local authorities said there were 30 fuel tanks on the ferry at the time of the attack.

Subsequently, it became known that the ship struck by the Ukrainian missile sank in the Kavkaz port, Russian media reported.

Also, Russian media reported that the fate of 15 crew members of the ship who disappeared after the strike is unknown. However, later it was reported that 4 crew members were rescued. The operation to rescue the rest of the team continues.

The vessel damaged as a result of the AFU attack sank in the waters of the Kavkaz port. This was reported by the operative staff of the Krasnodar region. Analysts of the InformNapalm intelligence community reported that the Kavkaz port was attacked by Ukrainian Neptune missiles.

"The Neptune visited the Russian Kavkaz port again," the report reads.

The operational headquarters of the Kuban said that "the Kyiv regime attacked a railway ferry with fuel tanks in the Kavkaz port.

"Emergency and special services are working on the site, the area of the fire and information about the victims are being clarified," the report reads.

The defeat of the ferry in the Russian Federation may mean that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will remain without an important fuel supply channel, since the Conro Trader is almost the only working ferry that ply between mainland of Russia and the Crimea. Andrey Kovalenko, head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation, believes that the latest Ukrainian strikes on Russian facilities will unbalance Russian society.

"The Russian information vacuum will not be able to digest the constant blows to the infrastructure. The Kavkaz port, air bases, Kurshchyna. Despite attempts to pretend that everything is under control, the imbalance is growing," he wrote.
