The military group is being built up in the Homel and Mazyr directions.
Dictator Lukashenka “gave orders to strengthen the group of troops in the Homel and Mazyr tactical directions,” Defense Minister Viktar Khrenin said at a briefing on August 10.
“Military units of the special operations forces, ground forces, missile forces, including Polonez rocket systems and Iskander complexes, were tasked with marching to designated areas,” the Defense Ministry press service quotes the official as saying.
According to him, the day before, air defense duty forces detected “unidentified aerial objects flying from the territory of Ukraine in the direction of the Republic of Belarus.”
“In order to promptly prevent a possible violation of the state border in the airspace of the Republic of Belarus, the designated forces and means were put on alert #1 within the established timeframe. After crossing the state border, the aerial targets were classified as unmanned aerial vehicles and a command was given to destroy them,” Khrenin said.
Earlier, Lukashenka said that at 18:10 on August 9, “the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of Belarus were transferred to increased combat readiness,” since the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly “violated all agreements, all rules of conduct and violated the airspace” of Belarus.
