Power went out in the city where the nuclear power plant is located.
The Kursk region of the Russian Federation was “attacked by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.” This was announced on August 9 by acting governor of the region Alexey Smirnov.
He assured that the Russian air defense “is repelling the attacks.” According to the governor, four Ukrainian missiles and four drones were shot down in the Kursk region.
It was reported on social media that Russians are complaining about a power outage in the city of Kurchatov, where the Kursk NPP is located.
Subsequently, Smirnov said that a fire broke out as a result of the UAV debris falling on a transformer substation. In addition to Kurchatov, power went out in the Kurchatovsky, Oktyabrsky, Bolshesoldatsky, Oboyansky and Belovsky districts.
“Emergency work is underway. Consumers are planned to be connected using backup schemes,” the official added.
