The cause was said to be “a detached blood clot.”
Businessman Igor Kotelnikov, from whom employees of the FSB Military Counterintelligence Department demanded testimony against former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, died in the punishment cell of the pre-trial detention center-4 “Bear” in Moscow, writes the Telegram channel “VChK-OGPU” with reference to informed sources.
Kotelnikov was arrested under Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (giving a bribe). According to the channel's sources, FSB officers repeatedly came to the businessman, demanding to admit guilt and testify against Ivanov and other high-ranking officials of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The channel’s interlocutor said that after refusing to cooperate, Kotelnikov was sent to a punishment cell in an isolation cell to “comply”, where he became ill due to chronic illnesses. He was transferred to a cell, but the management of the pre-trial detention center again sent him to a punishment cell, where he died. The cause of death was stated to be a detached blood clot.
The entrepreneur’s son told the “VChK-OGPU” that the law-enforcers and the administration of the pre-trial detention center “starved” his father, forcing him to give the necessary testimony. According to a source familiar with the situation, Igor Kotelnikov was detained with other military personnel, among whom was his son Sergei, who works as an employee in the contracts department of the Department of Maintenance and Provision of Utilities of the Russian Ministry of Defense. This organization is forming a plan for the overhaul of all department facilities, including secret bases. The Kotelnikovs own luxury real estate in Moscow and beyond. The family’s fleet includes Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen and other luxury foreign cars, the Telegram channel clarifies.
Information about Kotelnikov’s death was confirmed by member of the Human Rights Council under the President (HRC) Eva Merkacheva. According to her, Kotelnikov died on Monday, July 8. He became ill in the punishment cell located in building #5. In the summer, the temperature in this cell can rise above 40 degrees.
This is not the first strange death associated with the Ivanov case. On July 9, Magomed Khandayev, head of the state examination department of the Russian Ministry of Defense, died. For a long time he was responsible for the construction of facilities for the needs of the Ministry of Defense and was directly subordinate to former Deputy Minister Timur Ivanov, who was arrested in April on charges of a billion-dollar bribe.
