The ruler of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, fights the conspirators and arrests officials. This is further evidence of Central Asian turbulence.

Media sources report the arrests and interrogations of about 50 people these days, including the former Chairman of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan Akbarsho Iskandarov, who once even served as the country’s acting president, former Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi and deputy Saidjafar Usmonzoda, the former leader of the Democratic Party.

Kyrgyz journalist and expert Artem Khan, in a conversation with Ukrainian publicist Vitaly Portnikov, expressed the opinion that a coup was being prepared in Tajikistan, and the purge may indicate that Rahmon is preparing to transfer power to his son Rustem.
