ISW: Russia Creates One More Army To Move Into Ukraine

The direction has been named.

Russia could form another all-arms army for deployment in Ukraine. This was reported by analysts of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

In the report dated June 25, they said that the matter concerns the 51st Army, to which the 9th Motorised Rifle Brigade was subordinated.

It is reported that Yuriy Povkh, a representative of the Kharkiv Task Force, said that the occupiers want to redeploy the 9th Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army to the Kharkiv direction.

According to him, the Russians have redeployed units from Kherson region and other parts of the front to the Kharkiv direction.

In addition, Lieutenant Colonel Nazar Voloshyn, a representative of the Khortytsa operational-strategic grouping of troops, also said that the Russian troops want to move units of the 155th Marine Brigade (Pacific Fleet) and the "9th Motorised Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army" to the Kharkiv direction. This is needed to compensate for heavy losses.

According to analysts, the Russian army is now undergoing major reforms, including the creation of new army-level all-military formations. The Russian military has moved units of the 155th Marine Brigade and the 9th Motorised Rifle Brigade (the 1st Army Corps of the so-called "DPR") from the west and south-west of Donetsk to the Kharkiv direction.

"References by Ukrainian sources to the '51st Army' may serve as an early indicator that Russia has formed another general army for deployment. into Ukraine," the report said.
